Features: Xie Xiren was born in 1931. He graduated from the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsinghua University in 1952. He taught at the Communications Engineering College of the People's Liberation Army (Zhangjiakou), the Xidian University of Military Telecommunications Engineering (Xidian), the Communications Engineering College of the People's Liberation Army (Chongqing), and the Communications Engineering College (Nanjing). Currently, he is a professor, doctoral supervisor, and director of the National Network Technology Research Center at Dalian University of Technology. He also serves as a member of the expert committee of the Science and Technology Innovation Workstation of the General Staff Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, a Fellow of the China Electronics Society, and a Fellow of the China Communications Society. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and an editorial board member of the Journal of Electronics. He has been recognized as a national and military-level outstanding teacher and has received multiple national and military-level science and technology progress awards, as well as the Outstanding Science and Technology Personnel Award of the Military Communications System and the "Human Resource Development" Award from the General Staff Department. His research fields include network management systems and satellite communication network control systems. He has led and participated in the development of commercial and military VSAT satellite communication network control centers in China. In recent years, he has been responsible for translating and publishing several world-renowned books on computer networks, such as Comer's TCP/IP (three volumes), Stevens' TCP/IP (three volumes), Forouzan's TCP/IP, Stallings' Data and Computer Communications, Cryptography and Network Security, and High-Speed Networks.
