Features: Since this book is a series of textbooks for accounting undergraduates, we have controlled its difficulty level. For example, some special issues in consolidation accounting have not been included; we have also omitted some cutting-edge fields, such as human resource accounting. Finally, for accounting treatments still in the development and improvement stages, such as derivative financial instruments accounting, we will add them once more mature standards are established. What is written in this textbook are accounting theories and institutional norms that have formed a consensus and are relatively mature and systematic in China. To help you understand this textbook better, the following is a brief introduction to its features:
1. Highlighting and Clarifying Key Points. At the beginning of each chapter, we list the key points of the chapter to emphasize the content that needs to be mastered, and then summarize them again at the end of the chapter for a concise review. Additionally, to better organize theories and practical treatments, this textbook uses numerous diagrams and tables, which is also one of its distinctive features.
2. Forward-Looking. Since most of the content in this course is difficult and special, and the corresponding institutional norms in China are currently either unsystematic or outdated, with many areas still blank.
3. Practicality. One of the fundamental characteristics of accounting is its practicality, or operability. To emphasize this point, the textbook explains basic problems in each chapter by providing examples after elaborating on the theories. Furthermore, at the end of each chapter, we assign relevant exercises to help students practice and deepen their understanding while improving their practical skills.
4. Systematic Approach. To avoid the phenomenon of seeing the trees but missing the forest, this textbook emphasizes a systematic approach to explaining issues.
5. Indicating Theoretical and Institutional Sources. When discussing any theory or practical issue, this textbook clarifies its theoretical and institutional origins. To enable you to thoroughly understand relevant laws and references, we list all regulations, institutions, and documents mentioned in the textbook. This allows readers to not only grasp the basic handling of certain accounting issues but also understand the origins and development of these treatment norms and theories.
