Features: The electoral system, as a political institution of modern states, originated in the West, with its birthplace in ancient Greece. Ancient Greek elections were conducted through direct voting, which, although determined by the geographical environment of the time, had a profound impact on later generations and is hailed as the cradle of modern democracy. The modern Western electoral system emerged alongside the rise and development of the bourgeois parliamentary system, gradually forming through repeated struggles with feudal forces, while inheriting and learning from ancient social electoral systems, to adapt to the political rule of the bourgeoisie and the development of democratic politics.
