Features: This book is a supplementary textbook for "Elementary Chinese Coursebook" and is divided into two parts. The first part includes projects such as character knowledge, character list, reading, and exercises; the second part is writing practice from Lesson 1 to Lesson 30, including description and copying. The following explains each item of the first part in detail:
1. Character Knowledge: Characters have always been a challenge for foreigners learning Chinese. The task of teaching characters, in our view, is to help students overcome the difficulties of learning characters. Therefore, it is not only necessary to teach students to imitate but also to help them understand the structure and writing rules of characters, so that they can learn and master characters both in terms of what and why. The "Character Knowledge" section provides a brief introduction to characters and then explains stroke order, structure, and radicals separately. Subsequently, it introduces how to use strokes and radicals to look up dictionaries and glossaries. It is hoped that "Character Knowledge" will help students master the writing rules of characters, cultivate their recognition and reading abilities.
2. Character List: All characters in the table are provided with stroke order. Some complex but commonly used characters are taught later, while complex and rarely used characters are not taught.
3. Reading: Reading is generally divided into two parts: one part consists of word groups or sentences combined with the usage of certain words or structures, and the other part consists of reading materials in paragraphs.
4. Exercises: Exercises are mainly designed to help students further master the writing rules of characters, familiarize themselves with radicals, and distinguish between similar and homophonic characters.
This book is a supplementary textbook for "Elementary Chinese Coursebook" and is divided into two parts: the first part includes projects such as character knowledge, character list, reading, and exercises; the second part is writing practice from Lesson 1 to Lesson 30, including description and copying.
