Features: This book analyzes the non-logical factors in the study of the compilation of Wenxuan and proves, using a large number of internal evidence from Wenxuan, that it is a reselected edition based on the earlier anthologies such as Zhi Yu's Wenlue Jiaojí, Li Chong's Hanlin, and Liu Yiqing's Jilin. Wenxuan is a total anthology personally selected by Xiao Tong, and the theory that the "Ten Scholars of the Bright Prince" compiled Wenxuan is untenable. Although Wenxuan is a reselected edition and the selection process was not particularly laborious, it became widely popular. This is due to the fact that the literary genres selected in Wenxuan are common and widely used, and also due to the fact that the works selected are famous masterpieces passed down through generations. Even the self-selected works from the Qi and Liang dynasties by the compiler are already highly acclaimed masterpieces. Wenxuan was compiled between November 522 and November 526 during the Year of Putong, and it clearly distinguishes between literary criticism and literary works, holding significant meaning in the history of literary criticism.
