Yan Ying was a minister of the State of Qi during the Spring and Autumn Period. He succeeded his father as a minister (Chengqing, equivalent to a prime minister) and served three kings—Linggong, Zhuanggong, and Jinggong. This book, with concise text and lively illustrations, showcases Yan Ying's integrity, wisdom, courage, and insight. He was loyal to his country, cared for the people, and reasoned with the king to prevent him from indulging in wine and women, excessively using punishments, or believing in witchcraft. He used his intelligence to eliminate evil for the nation, recommended talented individuals, and, as an envoy to other states, skillfully upheld the nation's dignity. He was strict with himself, practicing integrity and serving the public honestly. The deeds and excellent virtues of this famous historical figure have won widespread praise from people.
