Features: This book is a concise and comprehensive vocabulary review guide for postgraduate entrance exams. Its purpose is to help candidates master basic vocabulary while focusing on key, difficult, and easily confused words. The entire book contains over 2,000 entries that are the key and difficult words candidates need to focus on. The "Active Learning" and "Active Application" sections under each entry basically cover all the vocabulary candidates need to master. Additionally, the new syllabus adds over 400 new words, all presented in entry form. The book's approach is to emphasize effective vocabulary learning methods, innovate in vocabulary organization, and pursue learning efficiency. What distinguishes it from other postgraduate entrance exam vocabulary books is:
1. Concise word selection, broad and comprehensive coverage;
The book's writing principle is to be precise and comprehensive. Although the syllabus requires candidates to master 5,500 words, based on the author's years of experience in postgraduate entrance exam tutoring, it has been found that vocabulary that poses comprehension obstacles for candidates does not exceed 2,000 words. Therefore, we have carefully selected high-difficulty, key, high-frequency, and words with challenging or nuanced meanings from the syllabus as the main entries. On this basis, we strive to incorporate potentially relevant out-of-syllabus words and words not included in the CET-6 syllabus.
2. [Active Learning] – Emphasizes memorization; The book condenses entries, using unfamiliar words to remember familiar ones and vice versa, expanding associations, and encouraging divergent memory as its writing approach.
3. [Active Application] – Emphasizes usage; When listing usage examples for each Chinese definition of an entry, the book primarily uses phrases to provide usage explanations. Special attention is paid to the explanation of usage, extended meanings, semantic shifts, and differences in expression between Chinese and English during translation. The goal is to help candidates deduce and grasp the true meaning of each word in context and learn how to use it.
4. [Segmented 100-Question Self-Test] – Aims to assess learning progress; The book is meticulously compiled with 700 self-test questions, divided into 7 groups, with either Chinese or English as the central word, for candidates to independently assess their learning progress. The new syllabus has added a 7th group of over 400 self-test questions, written separately to help candidates focus on practice.
In summary, the book is syllabus-based and exam-oriented, with carefully selected and meticulously compiled content, concise and to the point, highlighting key points. We hope this book not only helps candidates overcome the challenge of memorizing difficult words but, more importantly, provides them with an efficient learning method for vocabulary, enabling them to pass the exam with high scores.
