Features: Traditional Chinese Medicine pulse diagnosis has a long history and is an important component of traditional Chinese medicine, representing the essence of TCM. In China's earliest medical classic, the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon, there are insightful discussions on TCM pulse diagnosis. This book summarizes the achievements of TCM pulse diagnosis before the completion of the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon. Its principles and methods are still applied in clinical pulse diagnosis in TCM today, forming the foundation for the development of pulse diagnosis. TCM pulse diagnosis is also known as "observing the pulse," "calming the pulse," "pulse respiration," "pressing the pulse," and "feeling the pulse," all of which have evolved over time.
"Observing the pulse" involves using the hand to perceive disease; "grasping the pulse" involves judging the disease by holding the pulse and understanding the normal and abnormal changes; "calming the pulse" helps differentiate between organs and their conditions, such as ( refers to the strength or weakness of the pulse); "pulse respiration" allows one to understand the inhalation and exhalation of the human body. All of these are discovered by the physician's fingers pressing and feeling the patient's wrist. This demonstrates that pulse diagnosis is the heart of the physician, achieved through the tactile sensation of the fingers to communicate with and identify the patient's physiological (breath or energy).
The development of TCM pulse diagnosis over history is both a summary of rich clinical experience and a foundation of profound and unique TCM theory. This book provides a concise and systematic interpretation of the pulse diagnosis traditions from the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon onwards, including the contributions of figures such as Zhang Zhongjing, Hua Tuo, Qin Yueren, Wang Shuhe, Li Shizhen, Zhou Xuelin, and Zhang Xichun. It distills the essence, simplifies the complex, and presents the content in an easy-to-understand and memorable manner.
