Certain clothing, works, or languages are generally popular only among the youth, indicating their natural sensitivity and preference for novelty. The Tang Dynasty poet Qu Hu wrote in the poem "At the South Gate of the Capital City" (): "Last year today, at this gate, the people and peach blossoms mirrored each other in red. The people are no longer here, but the peach blossoms still smile in the morning breeze."
