Features: Educating children is a long-term mission. Today, society, schools, and families have never placed as much emphasis on children's education and growth as they do now. Publishers both domestically and internationally have turned their attention to the millions of parents who hope to see their children succeed, with many new books titled "Must-Reads for Parents" prominently displayed on bookshelves each year. However, parents often flip through various versions of parenting books but end up buying books that may not suit their own children's education. To address this, we have compiled and translated two Western books on parenting methods and philosophy—A Shift in Perspective Changes Your Child! and Excellence Is Taught—based on the needs of many parents and our own firsthand experience as parents. We referred to a wide range of educational content from books, newspapers, websites, lectures, family counseling agencies, and more.
The two books have different focuses. The former primarily presents educational concepts and suggestions from some Western experts for parents, while the latter draws from the experiences of successful parents. Although Eastern and Western cultures differ, there are some differences in raising children. However, with the further deepening of China's reform and opening-up, China's education system is also learning from and borrowing beneficial foreign experiences, with many similarities in practice. The parenting perspectives and methods introduced in these two books are indeed worth learning and referencing for parents. For example, the books advocate showing respect, tolerance, and appreciation for children from an early age, understanding their inner world, and allowing them to learn through life. They emphasize that children should learn confidence from encouragement, patience from tolerance, gratitude from praise, self-love from acceptance, action from recognition, gratitude from sharing, truth from honesty, justice from fairness, respect from care, trust from protection, and kindness from love.
