On this occasion of the re-publication, sincere gratitude is extended to millions of readers across the country.
Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads (referred to as "Subject Olympiads") are one of China's most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competition activities for primary and secondary school students. Subject Olympiads are derived from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential middle school subject competitions that attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development.
Based on years of in-depth research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to write and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—comprising over 200 varieties. In terms of variety, quantity, and quality, our Olympiad books are the most influential in the domestic and international industry and hold the greatest charm in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from textbooks but exceeding them. Derived from textbooks means referencing the latest [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding textbooks means closely aligning with competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise, with a well-structured design. Each book is designed based on subject characteristics, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach to provide in-depth yet accessible analysis and detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: Features novel and engaging question types. It compiles the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as innovative ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Selects exemplary problems that are challenging yet logical, flexible, and achievable. Emphasizes the ability to generalize from specific examples and apply knowledge to different contexts; focuses on multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches; and prioritizes training critical thinking skills over rote memorization, making learning an enjoyable hobby.
