The Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiad (referred to as "Subject Olympiad") is a competition activity in China that covers the widest scope, attracts the most participants, and has the greatest influence among primary and secondary school students. Subject Olympiads are inspired by and derived from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential middle school subject competitions that attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development.
Based on years of careful research into this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a vast number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from across the country to compile and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—comprising over 200 varieties. In terms of variety, quantity, and quality, our Olympiad books are the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally and hold the greatest charm in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiad" and "Golden Medal School" series are as follows:
High: Derived from textbooks but exceeding them. Derived from textbooks means referencing the latest [Curriculum Standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding them means closely aligning with competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing abilities.
Accurate: Scientifically precise with a well-structured design. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive approach, offering in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive, detailed problem-solving methods.
Innovative: The questions are novel, unique, and engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as the latest trends in competition question-setting.
Refined: Selected examples are challenging yet logical, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalizing from specific examples and applying knowledge to different contexts; it emphasizes multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches, prioritizing the training of thinking skills over rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
Renowned: A gathering of distinguished educators and a collection of famous competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited renowned university professors, elite teachers from key secondary schools, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad gold medal coaches to contribute.
