This series is organized by the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads and is a research outcome of the Beijing Step-by-Step Quality Education Research Institute. Since its publication by the Olympic Press, it has stood out uniquely and is deeply loved by teachers, parents, and students. After significant revisions, re-editions, or rewrites, it has been renamed as "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools," and is now re-published and distributed by Jinghua Publishing House. On this occasion of the re-publication, sincere thanks are extended to millions of readers across the country. Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads (briefly referred to as "Subject Olympiads") are one of the most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competition activities for primary and secondary school students in China. Subject Olympiads are derived from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential middle school subject competitions that attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness—qualities that are precisely at the core of quality education. This is also the need for future development. Based on years of careful research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—comprising over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally and hold the greatest charm in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students. The purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from textbooks but exceeding them. Derived from textbooks means referencing the latest [curriculum standards] issued by the Ministry of Education; exceeding them means closely aligning with competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing abilities.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise with a well-structured design. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive approach, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and teaching comprehensive and detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Novel: Features unique and engaging question types. It compiles the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as innovative ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Exquisite: Selects representative examples that are challenging yet logical, flexible, and achievable. Emphasizes the ability to generalize from specific cases and apply knowledge to different contexts; focuses on multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches to problems; and prioritizes the training of thinking skills without resorting to rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: Gathered by famous teachers and collected from top competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited distinguished professors from renowned universities, elite teachers from key secondary schools, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad medal coaches to co-author these books.
