Features: Chongxuan philosophy is the capital philosophical system established during the Sui-Tang period. It inherits the developmental lineage of Wei-Jin Xuan philosophy and paves the way for the philosophical reflections of Song-Ming Neo-Confucianism. In the history of medieval scholarship, it holds significant importance. In the early Tang Dynasty, the Taoist philosopher Cheng Xuanying took Chongxuan as the fundamental methodology and spiritual pursuit, achieving a breakthrough in Taoist philosophy from metaphysics to epistemology. Compared to the Pre-Qin Lao-Zhuang and Wei-Jin studies, Sui-Tang Chongxuan represents the third phase of Taoist philosophy. This issue focuses on discussions of the higher arts, hoping to inspire academic responses to this pioneering field of research.
