Features: The Han Dynasty Confucianism and Society is the preliminary outcome of my ten years of research on this topic. Compared to similar monographs, it may possess some new characteristics or unique insights. My fundamental view on Confucianism is to first regard it as an academic school, which allows for a clear understanding of its academic origins in the interpretation of Confucian doctrines and meanings. This approach prevents the misinterpretation of Confucian scholars' theories or ideals as the reality of Han Dynasty's social and political conditions. It also facilitates a preliminary outline of the evolution and development of economy in the Han Dynasty, evaluating its actual role. In this book, the "internal purity leading to the law" of academic development proposed by me is a reflection of my thoughts on the study of academic history. I use this law as the criterion for interpreting Confucianism and other pre-Qin philosophical schools. It may also become the theoretical foundation for my future research on this topic.
