Features: Comprehensive painting is freer in terms of medium and technique, aligning with the cultural trends of modern society's "humanization" and "diversification." Within this field, artists' creative practices often precede art school teachings. If consciously seeking diverse combinations of expressive methods in creation is considered the starting point of "comprehensive painting," then such works can be traced back to the early 20th century with artists like Picasso and Braque, where art underwent significant changes in concepts, forms, language, and mediums. In art education, most Western art education no longer distinguishes between disciplines like oil painting and printmaking but unifies all painting-related subjects under a "Painting Department." Professional teaching is primarily conducted in large classrooms or studio formats—large classrooms for foundational courses, with studios led by experienced experts who can be replaced regularly or irregularly, and internationally renowned artists can also be invited to lead shorter or longer-term studios. This system ensures the vitality, creativity, and continuous renewal and exchange of different artistic concepts, materials, and techniques. The creation of comprehensive material painting is not limited to "painting" but can also be three-dimensional or a combination of flat and spatial elements. However, in China at present, the creation of painting combined with comprehensive materials is more common.
