Haydn Piano Sonata Collection I

Author: (Austria) Haydn
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2003-01-01
Features: This practical edition is based on the outstanding Complete Edition edited by Carl Pesler. Like the Complete Edition, original markings such as slurs, expression marks, and tempo indications by Haydn himself are presented in bold and larger fonts, while all other added markings are in slightly finer and smaller fonts. Markings added in Haydn's lifetime published versions are rendered in smaller fonts, and those added in later versions appear in small fonts within parentheses, including the markings added by the editor of this book. The fingerings should also approximate Haydn's style, so occasionally, this edition may include thumb playing black keys. In fact, when one door closes, another opens, and performers have many opportunities to explore deep fingerings in the same or similar passages.
