This dictionary is revised based on the previous edition, containing over 4100 common idioms. The entries in this dictionary consist of five parts: 1) headword, 2) phonetic transcription, 3) definition, 4) example sentences.
1) Headword: The headwords selected are primarily those commonly used by students, requiring explanation and usage guidance, as well as a small number of common colloquialisms and newly emerged idioms in recent years.
2) Phonetic Transcription: Each character is transcribed using Pinyin.
3) Definition: Strives for accuracy and conciseness. Generally, the difficult characters or words are explained first, followed by the idiom itself.
4) Example Sentences: Each meaning of an idiom is illustrated with an example sentence to assist in explaining its meaning and usage, with the idiom itself replaced by "-".
The entries in this dictionary are arranged in the order of the Pinyin phonetic sequence of the first character of the headword. If the first characters have the same pronunciation, they are arranged by the second character in Pinyin order, and so on.
For the convenience of readers, this dictionary includes a phonetic index and a stroke index at the beginning of the main text to facilitate quick reference.
