Book of Five Leaves: A Record of Encounters with Republican-Era Editions

Author: Zhang Zexian
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2005-01-01
Features: The author of this book uses a classification method to select five distinct "elements" from numerous Republican-era versions, which the author refers to as the "Five Leaves": cover design, book illustrations, publishing marks, book advertisements, and copyright pages. The narrative structure is quite clear. Although the versions and historical materials these "elements" are based on are old, the insights and perspectives they evoke still hold a certain novelty, presenting readers with a relatively fresh sense of time and space.
