Features: Life and health are the most precious things in life. Health and disease are issues that the whole society pays close attention to, as they are closely related to the personal interests of every individual and family. Leaders of the Ministry of Health and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine attach great importance to this topic that is highly valued by the entire society. They have formulated a health work policy that prioritizes prevention over treatment, rather than just treating diseases when they occur. In 2000, to actively implement a series of instructions from General Secretary Jiang Zemin advocating science and vigorously carrying out popularization of scientific knowledge, as well as the spirit of the speech by Vice Premier Li Lanqing at the national television conference on health education for 900 million farmers, a medical knowledge popularization activity titled "Healthy Homes—Medical Science Popularization for Ten Years" was meticulously organized and planned. To make this event vibrant and engaging, Minister Zhang Wenkang not only personally served as the director of the activity's organizing committee but also personally organized and edited the educational materials for the event—the Health Education Series. The series consists of 78 volumes, introducing general knowledge about nearly 100 common diseases, disease signals, home healthcare, medication dos and don'ts, and other preventive measures for diseases, while providing patients with information related to their specific conditions. The aim is to improve the health and physical fitness of the entire nation and deliver health knowledge to every family. To ensure the scientific rigor, authority, practicality, and accessibility of this series, the organizing committee invited several academicians from the medical field, including members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, to personally review and serve as members of the review committee. Publishing this series is our publisher's responsibility. To ensure the long-term vitality of this series, we plan to revise it regularly so that every family can frequently obtain new knowledge on disease prevention and treatment, enabling everyone to enjoy good health.
