Features: The term "slow sketch" is used in contrast to "quick sketch." Originally, there was no such concept as "slow sketch"; it was only proposed to distinguish it from "quick sketch." "Slow sketch" is essentially "research-based quick sketch." Beginners often misunderstand it simply as the speed of drawing, which is due to a misinterpretation of the words "quick" and "slow." A quick sketch does not merely refer to the brevity of drawing time; "quick" is relative to long-term sketching, implying a shorter duration, smaller size, and simpler form of expression. Therefore, a slow sketch is not just about slowing down the drawing speed. Comprehensively, it should refer to using concise and vivid strokes to more deeply depict the form, spirit, essence, and rhythm of the subject in a relatively short time.
Basic methods and steps for character slow sketching:
Step 1: Use simple dashed lines to outline the character's pose and position in the composition.
Step 2: Start from the head, paying attention to the positions and features of the facial features.
Step 3: Draw the main clothing folds and the dynamic characteristics of the hands and feet, noting the perspective and the relationship between overlapping lines.
Step 4: Once the overall composition is established, begin to identify the internal structure and the density, priority, and interplay of each part, laying the foundation for in-depth detailing and completion.
Step 5: Proceed with detailed refinement and adjustments to complete the artwork.
