Publication Date: 2002-06-01
Features: Author Milan Kundera is undoubtedly an excellent writer. Unlike Borges who retreats into his study, finding stories from book fables and folk tales, Kundera extracts material from real life, from the political and cultural reality of his nation and people. What he focuses on is existence, the fate of humans. Through his works, you can genuinely feel the pain of his characters' flesh and blood, skin, and the struggles of their souls. Kundera's works are distinctly characterized by the culture and nationality of the nation, as seen in the exploration of the national and ethnic features of his characters, as well as the regional music and folk arts. This book meticulously compiles a collection of his selected short stories. It includes 8 short stories and appreciations, such as "The Game of Transfers," "The Dead Must Yield Ground to the Living," "No One Will Laugh," and "The Golden Apple of Eternal Desire."
