Features: This book is an important component of the Business and Economics Diploma Examination in Beijing, specifically the "Basic English" section. It can also serve as a reference for the vocabulary outlined in the Basic English teaching syllabus for junior college students. The book selects vocabulary that junior college students should master, including levels 1-3, with approximately 1,000 words from the first and second volumes of the "Basic English" for the High Self-Study Examination (Business and Economics) and about 10,000 words for levels 1-3. The features of this book are as follows:
1. In addition to the vocabulary in the textbook, this book includes many phrases that students must master. In previous exam papers, teachers often chose more individual words than phrases for translation questions, which caused inconvenience for students when answering and for teachers when grading, as one word can have multiple translations. Therefore, in future exams, the proportion of phrase-based questions will increase.
2. The definitions provided for the vocabulary in this book are translated based on the content of the textbook. In future question papers, these definitions will also be included in the grading answers as the primary reference.
3. For each word listed in the book, the single sentences that are followed by an asterisk () are selected from the textbook. These sentences, especially the commonly used phrases within them, should be key points for students to master. This will greatly help candidates in solving the "Chinese-to-English" and "English-to-Chinese" translation questions in the exam papers.
4. The English explanations selected in this book are concise and accurate, and the example sentences are fresh and commonly used. Additionally, during the compilation of the vocabulary, we found some errors in the word lists and translations of the first and second volumes. Therefore, if readers notice any discrepancies between the translations and explanations in the first and second volumes and those in this book, the versions in this book should be considered authoritative.
