Features: Publishing a collection of one's works as a whole is something every writer dreams of. When such a series of works appears on a bookshelf, the writer feels that his writing and imagination begin to unify and become orderly, and everything becomes clear at a glance. I am grateful to Shanghai Literature and Art Publishing House and Mr. Jie Shi Pei for helping me realize this wish, allowing the "Yu Hua Works Series" to come into being. Now, all my literary treasures are with Shanghai Literature and Art Publishing House, and the new works I earn will be added to it gradually. What I mean is that this is an open series of works, including all my past works and all my future works. These short stories and novellas record another path of my life. Unlike the real path of life, it has the possibility of beinged and is accurate. Although the passage of time may cause the paper to yellow and the handwriting to fade, each new publication brings it back to life, restoring its vividness. This is why I love writing so much. There is no road in the world that is repeated, nor is there a life that can be replaced. Everyone is experiencing life that is uniquely their own. The richness of the world and the narrowness of personal space make reading come to the fore. Reading opens our personal windows, making us realize the vastness of the sky and the breadth of the earth, transforming our individual lives from singular to plural. We feel that our lives are enriched, and our imagination expands gradually. These stories that have nothing to do with us will constantly awaken our memories, bringing back long-forgotten experiences and refreshing them.
