Features: This book is a revised and adapted version of the previous edition of "Corrosion Data Handbook." It supplements the content on material selection in various industrial environments and media, and adds new data to the original book. The book compiles approximately one million data points, covering over 100 materials, more than 1,500 media, and about 18 industrial environments, making it a comprehensive and highly practical reference tool. The book briefly explains the basic concepts of corrosion in the first part. The second part introduces the principles of correct material selection and design, along with important considerations in design work, providing numerous examples and highlighting common material selection pitfalls. The following ten chapters start from the perspective of media and industrial environments, respectively introducing the corrosion resistance of various materials, with a focus on important corrosive media and industrial environments such as sulfuric acid and sulfuric acid industry, nitric acid and nitric acid industry, hydrochloric acid and hydrochloric acid industry, hydrofluoric acid and hydrofluoric acid industry, phosphoric acid and phosphoric acid industry, acetic acid and acetic acid industry, fatty acid and fatty acid industry, chlorine and chlor-alkali industry, sodium chloride and salt industry, sodium hydroxide, ammonia (ammonium hydroxide) sulfur, electronics industry, battery industry, aerospace industry, and high-temperature corrosion environments. The book provides necessary explanations on the applications and advantages/disadvantages of various materials in different environments. The third part starts from the perspective of materials, presenting corrosion resistance data in tables for different media. This section collects corrosion data for over 100 materials, including metals and alloys, plastics, rubber, wood, ceramics, glass, concrete, carbon and graphite, coatings, plating, and more, in over 1,500 media such as alkalis, salts, gases, liquid metals, other mechanical substances, various organic compounds, petroleum products, light industry products, food and vegetable oils, atmosphere, soil, water, and seawater, at different concentrations and temperatures. The fourth part, as an appendix, introduces the physical and mechanical properties of materials and material-environment combinations that can lead to stress corrosion cracking. This book is suitable for researchers, designers, engineering technicians engaged in corrosion and protection, technical workers, and managers in industries such as chemical engineering, petroleum, petrochemicals, light industry, food, textiles, metallurgy, construction, machinery, energy, transportation, electronics, defense, and aerospace. It can also serve as a reference for students and teachers in relevant fields at colleges and universities.
