Features: Before writing this textbook, a survey was conducted on 179 intermediate-level international students regarding their interest in newspaper topics. Topics that were more appealing to students (such as employment, tourism, the internet, etc.) were prioritized for inclusion. The language materials in the textbook are selected from articles published in Chinese newspapers and websites between 2002 and 2004. While focusing on student interest, the topics also consider timeliness, long-term relevance, and stability. The textbook is appropriately challenging, clearly explains language points, and is highly practical. Each lesson includes a vocabulary list with Chinese explanations and translations in English, Japanese, and Korean, making it easier for students whose native languages are Japanese, Chinese, or who are proficient in English to learn the material.
