Features: This textbook is designed for the training objectives and practical needs of property management professionals in secondary vocational schools. It is based on the newly released "National Building Drawing Standards" by the Ministry of Construction in 2002. The book adheres to the principles of integrating theory with practice, presenting complex concepts in a simple and clear manner, and reflecting the characteristics of vocational education. It aims to highlight fundamental concepts and knowledge in each chapter and section, ensuring simplicity, clarity, and relevance to practical applications.
Building construction drawings are the "language" of engineering for expressing the design and construction of buildings. Constructing a building requires following the drawings, which are created based on the principles, standards, and methods of drafting. Because building construction drawings accurately convey the shape, size, structure, and technical requirements of buildings, they serve as essential tools for expressing design intentions, facilitating technical communication, and guiding construction.
Reading and understanding drawings requires mastering basic knowledge of architecture and projection. Any building is a three-dimensional object, while drawings are two-dimensional representations. Building construction drawings can accurately and completely express the three-dimensional form of a building in two-dimensional graphics. If readers can visualize the three-dimensional structure of a building based on its two-dimensional drawings, they have acquired the fundamental skills of reading and understanding drawings. This enables them to comprehend the construction details of each part of the building and guide the construction process accordingly.
Chapter 1 of this book introduces the basic knowledge of building construction and projection. Reading and understanding drawings also requires familiarity with national drafting standards, understanding the meanings of various symbols and notations, and mastering commonly used standard architectural drawings and component drawings. Every line, symbol, and note in a drawing must be treated with meticulous attention, as even minor oversights can lead to rework and increased construction costs.
Chapters 2 and 3 cover the basic knowledge of architectural drafting, sections and profiles, as well as the relevant regulations of national drafting standards. To fully understand a set of building construction drawings, readers must not only comprehend the drawings of their own specialty but also connect them with those of other related disciplines, linking them to the entire building and grasping the relationship between the parts and the whole. Only then can they form a complete mental image of the building and proceed with construction correctly.
A complete set of building construction drawings typically includes three main parts: architectural, structural, and equipment drawings. These parts have both specialized divisions of labor and close coordination. Like a well-written article, the drawings and text should be as concise, clear, and complete as possible, allowing readers to grasp the content at a glance.
Chapters 4 to 7 introduce the basic knowledge, expression characteristics, reading methods, and drafting methods of architectural construction drawings, structural construction drawings, equipment construction drawings, and architectural decoration construction drawings, respectively. Chapter 8 provides an integrated approach to reading and understanding building construction drawings by analyzing a complete set of architectural drawings, aiming to train and develop students' comprehensive application skills.
This book is compiled by He Jinyun and Guo Chaoyong, with contributions from: Xu Ruiping (Introduction, Chapter 5, Chapter 8) and Xing Shuangjun (Chapter 7) of Hebei University of Engineering, Li Ruijing (Chapter 1 and Chapter 4), Wei Dongjie, and Li Jingyu (Chapter 6). During the writing process, references were made to some drafting textbooks, and the authors express their gratitude to the relevant authors. Due to the authors' limitations, there may be inaccuracies or errors in the book, and readers are kindly invited to point them out.
