Features: The newly published Collected Works of Jia Zhifang primarily includes works of literary value, first publications, and scattered manuscripts, excluding recent or reprinted works from recent years. The Collected Works is divided into four volumes, each with approximately 300,000 words:
Volume I: "Creative Works," which collects novels, essays, and written by Mr. Jia Zhifang from the 1930s to the present;
Volume II: "Theoretical Works," which includes theoretical articles written by Mr. Jia Zhifang in the fields of modern and contemporary Chinese literature, comparative literature, and foreign literature;
Volume III: "Letters and Diaries," which features letters from Mr. Jia Zhifang to Hu Feng and to Ms. Ren Min, the wife of Jia Zhifang, as well as the first publication of his diaries from 1985 to 1987 before his retirement;
Volume IV: "Translated Works," which includes three translations by Mr. Jia Zhifang from the 1950s that have been out of print for many years: On Report Literature, Chekhov's Dramatic Art, and Studies in Russian Literature. Due to space constraints, several influential works recently published, reprinted, or forthcoming by Mr. Jia Zhifang, such as Inside and Outside the Prison, Modern Chinese Society and Economy, Chekhov's Notes, For Students, and the diary portions from before 1985 included in Thawing Season (Yangtze Literature Press, 2000 edition) and Early Spring Diary (to be published by Elephant Publishing House), are not included in this Collected Works.
