Features: In today's increasingly fierce business competition environment, the strategic thinking of entrepreneurs is not only the key to the success or failure of their careers but also has a pivotal impact on the entire business society. Studying business operation cases is an important step for entrepreneurs to refine their strategic thinking. In the book Integration, the author points out that China's past planned economy led to inefficient enterprises, but the current economic trend is heavily leaning towards chaotic competition. However, what enterprises need is a planned free competitive system to reduce chaotic competition. Therefore, the author believes that industrial integration will be the major direction for the development of Chinese enterprises in the future.
Regarding the concept of industrial integration, the author divides the book into four major themes for in-depth case analysis. The first theme is "Enterprises Should Not Grow Too Large or Too Strong," where the author explains through in-depth case studies of Tsingtao Beer, China Resources, and Beijing Holdings that expanding too rapidly inevitably leads to cost control issues. The second theme is "Diversified Business Strategies," where the author, through cases of CTF, Ureal Holdings, and Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, demonstrates that even in the global wave of anti-diversification, well-designed diversification can still create wealth for shareholders. The third theme is "Strategies for Transitioning from Diversification to Specialization," where the author analyzes through in-depth case studies of Cosco Pacific, China Merchants International, and China Travel Service Hong Kong how the inefficiency of diversification can be converted into operational efficiency through specialized management. The fourth theme is "Other Forms of Integration Strategies," where the author selects three integration strategies with distinct characteristics, including China Everbright Holdings, Yuexiu Enterprises, and the integration of the three major oil companies, to illustrate the pros and cons of other forms of integration.
