Features: This textbook consists of 19 lessons, each covering a communicative topic. The homepage of each lesson briefly describes the English communicative level that PETS Level 3 candidates should achieve in this chapter (communicative topic). Each lesson includes:
1. Dialogues: Four dialogue materials are designed based on the theme of the lesson. The dialogues strive for realistic scenarios and natural, appropriate language, primarily used for training listening and speaking skills. Some dialogues are preceded by one or two sentences that clarify the background of the dialogue, helping learners understand it.
2. Text: Each lesson represents and embodies a specific theme. To assist candidates in understanding the text, five short questions are provided at the end of each text.
3. Words and Phrases: Words and phrases are the new vocabulary and expressions that appear in the text of each lesson, listed in the order they appear in the text with their international phonetic symbols, parts of speech, Chinese definitions, and Chinese definitions of phrases.
4. Notes: The notes are related to the text, covering two aspects: first, introducing relevant cultural background knowledge to deepen candidates' understanding of the text; second, providing insights into grammatical, lexical, or phrasal difficulties in the text to cultivate candidates' ability to flexibly use language.
5. Exercises: The exercises are designed based on the themes of each lesson, with question types aligned with the PETS Level 3 exam syllabus to facilitate candidates' preparation.
6. Supplementary Reading: To enable candidates to gain a deeper understanding of related topics and improve their reading skills, a supplementary reading passage is provided at the end of each lesson.
At the end of the textbook, there are 7 appendices, including:

The textbook is also accompanied by an audio cassette for after-lesson listening exercises.
