Features: "Strategic Research on Suburban Tourism Development in Beijing - Experiences, Missteps, and Countermeasures" is a provincial and ministerial-level planning project led by Associate Professor Zou Tongjian of the Tourism Management College. The focus of this research is to evaluate the experiences and lessons learned from the development of suburban tourism in Beijing over the past decade. The project employs a comparative study method, drawing on suburban tourism development models from major cities such as Orlando, Boston, Paris, Barcelona, and Cancun, while integrating China's national context. Through statistical sampling surveys, it conducts a detailed analysis of the suburban tourism market in Beijing, summarizing the successes and failures of various renowned scenic spots and extracting general models for suburban tourism development. Theoretically, the project aims to establish a model for urban suburban tourism development. Currently, the international tourism academic field only has mature theories for resort, scenic area, urban, and regional tourism development. Suburban tourism, as a unique regional type, lacks a well-formed theoretical framework for its development patterns. The project hopes to identify the general laws of suburban tourism development, thereby proposing theoretical hypotheses for urban suburban tourism development.
