Features: "Fantasy literature" is the main trend in children's literature worldwide today. 21st Century Publishing House recently selected the best from German fantasy literature introduced over the years, choosing five works: Momo, The Whispering Mill, The Thief, The Neverending Story, and The Little Monster. Combined with a newly acquired copyright for The Neverending Story, they have been integrated into the Great Fantasy Literature Translation Series, with redesigned cover art for re-publication. Fantasy literature is defined as "creating a long fantasy story that does not exist in the real world using the realistic techniques of fiction." It produces an irresistible artistic magic through its fantastical imagination, gripping storytelling, and deep concern for the human psyche, immersing both young and adult readers in a state of fascination. Fantasy literature originated from folk tales and flourished in 19th-century Germany, a country with a rich tradition of folk tales, followed by Britain, then the rest of Europe and the entire English-speaking world. Therefore, German fantasy literature has the purest bloodline of fantasy literature. The works selected for the Great Fantasy Literature Translation Series are all the finest classics of fantasy literature from Germany, Europe, and even the world. The first six books in this series cover a wide range, exhibit diverse styles, and are all classic works with excellent readability and entertainment value. Among them are the masterpieces of contemporary German fantasy literature master Michael Ende, known for their profound themes, deep meanings, and thrilling plots: Momo and The Neverending Story. There are also the works of Prüfer, a recipient of the Hans Christian Andersen Award and a master of children's literature: The Whispering Mill and The Thief. The plots are utterly bizarre, the writing is laugh-out-loud funny, and the exquisite illustrations are even more delightful. The story takes place in the mid-18th century, where young Crabbe is the son of a goatherd. At the age of 14, both his parents die of an epidemic, and he is later adopted by a pastor. Unable to endure the strict rules of a non-religious family, he runs away and joins the ranks of the homeless, wandering far and wide. During his time at the Whispering Mill, he discovers strange and bizarre events, especially the deaths of his friends Tom and Mitchell, which lead him to see the true nature of his master. He transforms from a mere observer into a conscious fighter and ultimately defeats the evil forces represented by his master. The tense and twisting plot, the enigmatic and dramatic scenes, the vivid and lively language, and the original structure give the book extraordinary artistic quality. Meanwhile, its pursuit of the good and its condemnation of the ugly give it a clear and uplifting theme. It is believed that both young and adult readers will be captivated by it.
