Features: Guo Gongsen, born on November 13, 1921, in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, is currently a member of the China Artists Association, a committee member of the Fujian Provincial Literature and Art Federation, vice chairman of the Fujian Provincial Art and Craft Society, and honorary president of the Fuzhou Shoushan Stone Research Association. Guo Gongsen studied under Lin Youzhu and furthered his studies at the East China Branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is renowned for his skill in carving landscapes and flowers and birds. He has been engaged in Shoushan stone carving art for over 60 years, creating numerous exquisite stone carvings, such as "Stalin's Bust," "The Chaos of Changbanpo," "Daiyu and Baoyu," "Nine Carp in a Chain," "New Village Scenery," "Both Sides of the Min River," "Wuyi Scenery," "Crossing the Snowy Mountains," "Shaoshan," "The Site of the Gutian Conference," "The Ten Treasures of Shoushan Stone," and "The Nine Dragons." These works have been exhibited, awarded prizes, or collected. In 1979, Guo Gongsen attended the National Art and Craftsmanship Artisans Congress and was awarded the honorary title of "Chinese Art and Craftsmanship Master" by the Ministry of Light Industry. In 1988, at the third National Art and Craftsmanship Artisans Congress, he was honored as a "Chinese Art and Craftsmanship Master." He has written books such as "A Brief Introduction to Shoushan Stone Carving" and "Lin Qingqing's Thin Carving Art," and composed articles such as "Guo Gongsen on Art" and "Shoushan Stone Carving Techniques and Rhymes" based on his creative experiences. His life story has been included in dictionaries such as "Dictionary of Chinese Artists," "Dictionary of Chinese Artists' Names," and "Dictionary of Modern Chinese Artists." Guo Gongsen is a generation of Chinese art and craftsmanship masters after the founding of New China. He has diligently devoted himself to art for over 60 years, embodying the spirit of an ascetic artist. He has created hundreds of exquisite Shoushan stone carvings and excels in integrating realistic themes into his stone carving creations. His significant historical-themed stone carving, "The Long March Group Sculpture," skillfully utilizes the natural colors of Shoushan stone to successfully portray a vivid group of heroic figures, making it a work of great historical significance. Guo Gongsen has made outstanding contributions to the prosperity and development of Shoushan stone art.
