Features: A single life is also the life of many. Despite having an unflattering childhood nickname and being ostracized by others, the book tells the "legendary" life of a thief. "I" grew up amidst my parents' arguments and fights. After their divorce, a beautiful stepmother entered our lives, and the young "I" thought life would finally be good. However, things didn't go as planned. I was successively sold as a son to others by my biological father and stepmother, even ending up homeless. Having tasted the bitterness and hunger of the world for the first time, "I" began a life of theft on the streets. Though the novel is about a thief, it more deeply explores society and the struggles of the underprivileged living within it—filled with hardship, bitterness, and helplessness. Under the weight of life, and driven by the allure of money and material desires, human nature becomes twisted, relationships grow cold, and people become guarded and distant. Even deep-rooted affection can be shattered by sudden changes. Faced with such life realities, the protagonist falls into confusion—about himself, about family, friendship, love, and even the future. The author's language is humorous and playful, with a free and unrestrained writing style. He excels at using comedic techniques to depict tragedies, whether in the numerous "wits battles" with the police and victims, the reckless behavior after loneliness and emptiness, or the unique and intense sibling romance. All are vividly portrayed with great charm, richness, and emotional depth, drawing readers into the depths of the words. Amidst the laughter, they reflect and gain a profound sense of a different kind of weariness and helplessness.
