Features: Schools are places to cultivate talent and pursue knowledge. No matter how much they change, they are never chicken farms. Modern architecture is heading toward becoming a chicken farm, and we have no choice but to accept it; office buildings are also becoming chicken farms, and we have no choice but to accept it; but I firmly oppose first-class universities becoming chicken farms. Through the words and phrases of the reform proposal, it can be seen that Peking University is striving to strengthen its institutional advantages and aims to seize the initiative in the new round of university competition. As one of the earliest universities in China to initiate breakthrough reforms in personnel systems, Peking University faces much greater difficulties and controversies than later adopters. As the university authorities put it, "gradual reform is more likely to succeed," and we cannot expect to solve all problems in the higher education personnel system through a single reform. What matters is that we have recognized the gap, clarified the direction, and taken a step.
