Features: This series of albums selects a portion of Ming and Qing Dynasty calligraphy treasures from the collection of the Rongbaozhai. It includes scripts in various styles such as regular, cursive, clerical, and seal scripts, with most being published for the first time. To facilitate readers in appreciating and understanding the original works' essence, the albums have been edited to showcase the full view of the works, reproduce them in original size, provide enlargements of details, and include cover illustrations with some color reproductions of the original works. These enhancements are beneficial for both practicing, creating, and researching calligraphy.
Wu Junqing (1842–1927) was a renowned modern Chinese seal, painting, calligraphy, and inkstone artist. His original name was Jun, and he was also known as Cangshi, Changshuo, Fuju, and other names such as Kuitie, Pohe, and Dalengren. He was from Anji, Zhejiang. His paintings incorporated calligraphic brushwork, displaying a powerful and vigorous style; his seal carving used dull knives, creating a classic charm; and his calligraphy emphasized brush breath, reaching a level of perfection. His calligraphic style had a significant impact on the modern calligraphy scene.
Selected Letters and Notes is a paper-bound album with fifty-seven pages. Many of the poems and letters in the album were personally drawn by Master Fuju. Due to the diverse original sizes of the pages, not all character examples in original size are illustrated.
