Features: The focus of this revision is on tunnel investigation, geological classification, overall design, shotcrete support and lining, portal section engineering, structural calculation, special structure design, and design for special geological sections. Additionally, content related to three-lane tunnels, arch-tunnel structures, and close-proximity tunnels has been added. The revision primarily targets highway tunnels and Class I, II, and III road tunnels, while also considering the needs of lower-grade road tunnels, reflecting a combination of highway tunnels and general road tunnels. In terms of technology, it incorporates mature new theories, methods, and materials while retaining some currently practical traditional technologies. The provisions in each article of this specification are based on reliable technical foundations and relatively mature experience. For technical content lacking practical experience or being less mature in China, it has either been excluded or only outlined in principle.
