Features: Saving the Soul is a must-read for anyone who lives or works with boys and men. The result of over 20 years of dedicated research by a professor at Harvard Medical School in the United States, this New York Times bestseller is suitable for parents, teachers, and social workers to guide boys aged 3-18, as well as being a self-help book for children. From childhood, we are immersed in some culture, and through constant exposure, we form lifelong beliefs. These beliefs guide boys on how to behave. We advocate and hope that boys become athletic champions on the sports field, outstanding students in school, idols for girls, and tough little guys who don’t cry when their mothers leave, and heroes who cannot be defeated by anything. This is our expectation for them—boys. However, when we look into the eyes of boys in similar situations, an intuition arises within us, shaking our previous beliefs. We know what boys need, but we are unclear about what they truly need. We think we should say something to them, but what should we say? Should we wait for them to signal for help? Saving the Soul uses real-life examples and practical exercises—recommended by authorities on boys’ issues in the United States—to provide comprehensive advice for parents and teachers to help boys overcome specific challenges they face.
