Features: Bees are the most highly evolved group within the insect class, with a wide variety of species and extremely complex biological learning behaviors. They are mostly beneficial insects. In addition to the well-known honeybees, there are also parasitic wasps and predatory wasps, which can eliminate large numbers of pests and serve as the primary natural factors controlling pest outbreaks. Proper protection and utilization can reduce the need for pesticides. However, some bee species are pests that harm forests and crops, causing economic losses to humans. This book consists of two parts: General Introduction and Specific Accounts. The General Introduction focuses on introducing the morphology, biology, classification system, research history of bees in China, especially in Zhejiang, as well as survey and collection methods. The Specific Accounts section introduces 59 families, 631 genera, and 1,687 species of bees in Zhejiang, many of which are newly discovered in Zhejiang and have not yet been documented domestically. Except for the suborder Apocrita, each species includes a brief description of morphology, biology, and distribution, with black-and-white characteristic illustrations, full maps, or color illustrations provided as much as possible to facilitate users in identifying and identifying bees at a glance. This book can serve as a reference for scientific research, teaching, and production personnel in the fields of biology, entomology, and plant protection, as well as for faculty and students of universities and colleges when identifying and identifying bee species.
