Hu Min, a native of Huayong, Hunan, is known as "Hu IELTS" and serves as the President of New Oriental Education Group and the second Principal of Beijing New Oriental School. She is a renowned expert in English teaching and testing, as well as a scholar who studied in the UK. At the age of 19, she graduated from the English Department of Xiangtan University in Hunan with a bachelor's degree. In 1988, she obtained a master's degree in English Linguistics from the English Department of Shanghai Normal University. By the age of 28, she was promoted to associate professor, and later served as the Deputy Director of the English Department at the former International Relations College and a master's supervisor. With nearly two decades of experience in higher education English teaching, she has received multiple awards for excellence in teaching, including the Young Teacher Teaching Competition and the Beijing Fifth Philosophy and Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award. She has published dozens of academic papers in various English language and literature journals across the country and has authored numerous English books. She has been invited to conduct academic exchanges in Commonwealth countries, as well as prestigious universities and language schools in Japan. In 1995, she joined New Oriental as a part-time TOEFL teacher. She pioneered the Domestic Exam Training Department and the IELTS Exam Training Department at New Oriental, offering four training programs: CET-4, CET-6, postgraduate entrance exam English, and IELTS. In the field of English training, she proposed a unique teaching philosophy—"improving learning methods, enhancing exam techniques, strengthening practical English skills, and elevating career and life aspirations." This philosophy has been implemented in New Oriental's classrooms and is widely recognized by students.
Hao Fuhé, currently a part-time teacher at New Oriental School, is also an English lecturer at China Agricultural University. In 1998, he graduated from the Science and Technology Foreign Languages Department of China University of Mining and Technology. That same year, he topped the entrance exam to the English Language and Literature master's program at Beijing International Relations College, studying under the renowned English teaching and testing expert, Professor Hu Min. In 2000, he began teaching at New Oriental School. Since then, he has been praised for his rigorous yet passionate teaching style, dedication, and professionalism, earning him the title of New Oriental Outstanding Teacher of the Year in 2000. His book, TOEIC Grammar for High Scores, is the first dedicated TOEIC grammar book in China.
