Features: The "Code for Highway Bridge Maintenance" (JTGH11-2004) is now released and will take effect from October 1, 2004, while the corresponding content in the original "Technical Code for Highway Maintenance" (JTJ073-96) is simultaneously abolished. The "Code for Highway Bridge and Culvert Maintenance" (JTGH11-2004) is compiled by the Shaanxi Provincial Highway Bureau, with management and interpretation rights belonging to the Ministry of Transport. The daily interpretation and management work are handled by the Shaanxi Provincial Highway Bureau. Since the implementation of the "Ninth Five-Year Plan," China's highways have experienced exceptionally rapid development, and highway maintenance management has also made significant progress. To adapt to new requirements and in line with the new highway engineering standards and specifications system, Chapter 4 of the original "Technical Code for Highway Maintenance," which focuses on bridge and culvert maintenance, has been revised and published as the "Code for Highway Bridge and Culvert Maintenance" in a separate volume. In accordance with the task assigned by Document No. 1085 of the Ministry of Transport and Highway [1996], the writing work was led by the Shaanxi Provincial Highway Bureau, with participation from Chang'an University, Shanghai Highway Management Office, Heilongjiang, Sichuan, and Guangdong Provincial Highway Bureaus, as well as the Xi'an Highway Research Institute.
