Features: Liu Gongquan, styled Chengxuan (778-865), was a renowned calligrapher of the Tang Dynasty. Born in Jingzhao Huayuan (now Yao County, Shaanxi), he passed the imperial examination during the reign of Emperor Xianzong and initially served as a secretary in the Secretariat Department. Later, he became a Right Supplementary Officer and Court Calligrapher during Emperor Muzong's reign. In the reign of Emperor Wenzong, he was appointed as a Vice Chancellor of the Secretariat and a Counselor of State, enfeoffed as the Marquis of Hedong. He later served as the Vice Grand Tutor of the Crown Prince and was later renamed as Vice Master. He was known as "Vice Master Liu." Skilled in calligraphy, he was particularly famous for his regular and semi-cursive scripts, which were known as the "Liu Style." He was renowned alongside Yan Zhenqing as "Yan and Liu."
