Features: The relationship between history and politics is a significant practical issue in the development of historiography and social progress, as well as an important theoretical problem in historiography. During the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties period, political fragmentation, ethnic conflicts, and class contradictions were acute, with the landlord class dominated by the (scholar-official landlord class). This gave the relationship between history and politics new characteristics. First, historians showed great enthusiasm for historical writing, with multiple dynastic histories being composed by dozens of authors. Second, historiography reflected the demands and interests of the class, with the development of family histories, genealogies, and biographies being a clear manifestation of the political requirements and ideology of the class in historiography. Third, historical knowledge and experience provided a basis for political decision-making in the real world, and historiography played a significant role in promoting contemporary political ideas and moral values. Fourth, during the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties period, there was a sharp contrast between direct and indirect historical writing. Although direct writing was the mainstream of historiography at the time, due to various political interventions and influences on historiography, indirect writing remained a prominent phenomenon. Fifth, historians during this period had a profound sense of urgency and were deeply concerned with the political and social issues of the time. They expressed their thoughts and opinions on monarchs and their power, ethnic policies, and national unification through different forms of historiography, placing particular emphasis on summarizing and analyzing the rise and fall of previous dynasties and historical experiences to serve as lessons for contemporary politics. The political ideas and historical insights of historians during the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties period continued to have a profound impact on later historical development.
