Hu Yuizi Collection, Volume 2

Author: Hu Yuizi
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 1996-08-01
Features: The works written and published by Hu Yuizi throughout his life appeared in various domestic and Southeast Asian newspapers and magazines. Except for a few that were published as separate volumes, most were not compiled into books. Many articles were published under pseudonyms or without authorship, making it difficult to collect them fully. Now, from the collected five to six million words, five hundred forty-six articles have been selected, along with books like Moscow Impressions and Young Aviation Cadets, totaling about twenty-two to twenty-three million words, and compiled into a six-volume. A Study of the Indonesian Grammar is included only as its preface, as it is a specialized work. Translations are not within the scope of this collection. The selected articles aim to reflect the author's thoughts and views during different periods. To preserve the historical originality, no changes were made to the collected texts during editing, except for correcting typographical errors and replacing foreign names, geographical names, and other proper nouns that differ significantly from the currently accepted translations. Discussions on domestic and international politics and culture (press and publication, language and writing, literature and arts), as well as commemorative articles, are arranged in chronological order of their writing and publication, divided into five parts:
1. 1915–1931 (Striving for Enlightenment)
2. 1932–1937 (Urging for Anti-Japanese Resistance and Salvation)
3. 1938–1945 (Persisting in Anti-Japanese War, Unity, and Progress)
4. 1946–1985 (For Establishing and Building a New China)
The fifth part consists of essays and fiction.
