Features: This book is the historical work of the late renowned Taiwanese writer, Gao Yang, author of "The Trilogy of Hu Xueyan." Based on Qing dynasty archives, letters, diaries, and other first-hand materials, Gao Yang conducted extensive research, evaluated historical events, corrected inaccuracies, and supplemented gaps, chronicling the lives of the 11 emperors of the Qing dynasty from the founding emperor Nurhaci to the last emperor Guangxu. The book also includes introductions to the Qing dynasty's institutions and major historical events, presenting a comprehensive account of the rise and fall, glory and disgrace of the Qing dynasty over more than two hundred years. With its rich historical sources and elegant prose, it is truly impressive! It serves as both a reference for researchers and a delightful read for general readers.
Since beginning his career in historical fiction writing, Gao Yang has dedicated over two decades to his work. The number of books he has published is considerable, and the total word count is even more staggering. To be honest, even he himself wasn’t entirely sure of the exact figures. Roughly speaking, he has published over 60 books; in terms of word count, he averages 3,000 words per day, resulting in over a million words annually. Conservatively estimated, his total output is at least 25 million words. The phrase "a writer's output equals their height" aptly describes his achievements.
With a history spanning 5,000 years, the vastness of historical facts is endless, ensuring that his novel themes will always have new material to explore. Even more gratifying is the fact that readers throughout the Chinese-speaking world have embraced his works. Some readers have expressed such deep admiration and encouragement that Gao Yang can only describe his feelings as "a mix of gratitude and humility." At the age of 65, he attributes his vitality to his open-mindedness toward life. He is also fortunate to live in a free and abundant environment, where his physical and mental health remain strong. He expects to continue writing for another 20 years.
However, in the future, his literary career will involve both creating new works and revising old manuscripts. New standalone books will be published exclusively by two publishing companies: Lianjing and Jinwen. The collaboration with Jinwen Publishing has been a significant milestone in his creative journey and a deeply rewarding experience. He takes this opportunity to extend his gratitude to his readers.
Gao Yang, whose real name was Xu Yanping, was a native of Hangzhou, Zhejiang, and a renowned Taiwanese writer who passed away. He was particularly skilled in historical research and often referred to himself as the "Wild Scholar." His findings from historical research were used not only to evaluate and correct historical records but also to inspire his historical fiction. As a result, he made many astonishing discoveries in history and achieved remarkable success in literature. His historical novels, "The Trilogy of Hu Xueyan," and his historical work, "Emperors of the Qing Dynasty," are truly awe-inspiring!
