Features: China is a country with relatively unfavorable maritime geography, as its surrounding waters are almost entirely surrounded by neighboring countries, making it difficult to extend into open ocean waters. Therefore, there is a particular need to focus on the study of maritime law. Since the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea was signed by representatives of 188 countries on December 10, 1982, and officially came into effect on November 16, 1994, the development of international maritime law has advanced rapidly, with a vast number of relevant research works and publications in the international community. However, under the wave of reform and opening-up and economic development, China has shown some shortcomings in research on issues within this legal field. Now, facing new challenges of the 21st century, the Chinese people are determined to establish a responsible maritime power, which naturally requires actively strengthening research efforts in international maritime law. This book collects some insights from the author's research on maritime law-related issues in recent years, covering the following four areas: (1) Marine environmental protection and the protection of underwater cultural heritage; (2) Marine fisheries management; (3) Marine boundaries and the resolution of maritime disputes; (4) The Taiwan Strait and cross-strait cooperation.
