Features: The three parts—“Portrait,” “Bust,” and “Human Figure”——were compiled based on the teachings provided by Soviet sculptors Professor Kellber, Moravinsk, Chamskikh, and expert Klinodkhov during their short-term classroom instruction in China, specifically tailored to the students' practical works. Regarding the six sections—“Plaster Portrait Hanging Cloth,” “Human Figure Attire,” “Relief,” “Composition,” “Abstract Thematic Sculpture,” and “Monument Design”—they are primarily based on the sculpture curriculum of Soviet higher education institutions. As for the section on “Sculpture Types” and “Ode to Urban Sculpture,” they belong to the supplementary teaching content for basic sculpture. This is a preliminary theoretical teaching script for the basic classroom instruction of realistic sculpture. We are now in the information age, with science and technology developing rapidly, and people's ability to understand the world has reached an unprecedented level. The realm of aesthetics has also expanded into outer space. With the opportunity to accept and utilize the advanced technological achievements and ideas of the new era for creation, artists of the new era must reflect on and reabsorb the norms and rules that have long been followed in art. Building upon the foundation of predecessors, they should make creative developments to ensure that modern urban sculpture keeps pace with the times!
