Features:
1. This book attempts to comprehensively list all Chinese and foreign works on the history of the Liao and Jin dynasties in the 20th century, with the lower limit of time extending to the end of 2000, but the upper limit is not limited to 1900; a few research results before the 20th century are also included. A total of 9,216 works on the history of the Liao and Jin dynasties are listed, including 4,721 on the Liao history and 4,495 on the Jin history.
2. The book is divided into two parts: the upper part covers the Liao history, and the lower part covers the Jin history. The level of detail in classification depends primarily on the number of entries.
3. The works listed in this book on the history of the Liao and Jin dynasties include eight types of texts: Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Korean, Mongolian (including both domestic publications using Mongolian and internationally used new Mongolian), English, French, and German. Considering the difficulties in typesetting, the catalogs of foreign works are translated into Chinese.
4. If a work is published multiple times, all its publication details are recorded; however, works included in various collections after their original publication are not included in this case, and only their original publication details are listed.
5. For the convenience of readers, works that cover both the Liao and Jin dynasties are, as a rule, included in the relevant categories of both the upper and lower parts. However, articles such as archaeological and cultural relics materials or academic dynamics are included in either the upper or lower part at the author's discretion without duplication.
6. The listed items include serial number, title, author, and publication source. Each entry is numbered sequentially, with the serial numbers of the upper part prefixed by "A" and those of the lower part by "B" for distinction.
7. The entries listed in this book are as far as possible checked against the original books and journals. If the title, author, or other details in the original catalog do not match the main text, the main text is generally used as the standard.
8. If there are two authors, both are fully listed; for three or more authors, only the first two are listed, followed by "et al."
9. According to the conventions of domestic academia, archaeological excavation reports often list the organization's name, with the author responsible noted at the end. To reflect the actual situation, this book generally lists the author's name. If the author responsible is unknown, the original name is retained.
10. In the Chinese works section, the translated works have the author's nationality indicated before their names; in the foreign works section, as the works are organized by language, the author's nationality is generally not marked.
11. In the foreign works section, Western scholars with Chinese names are preferably listed by their Chinese names. However, for translated works in the Chinese works section, the translated names of the authors are retained as listed in the original publications.
12. In the Japanese works section, if the titles of books or journals mention "Manchuria," it refers to the puppet state of Manchukuo established by the Japanese Kwantung Army. To maintain the original form of the literature, this book retains the original wording.
13. In the publication source section, if there are duplicate titles, the publication location is marked after the title of the book or journal. For example: Social Sciences (Shanghai), Social Sciences (Gansu); Journal of Oriental Studies (Tokyo), Journal of Oriental Studies (Kyoto).
14. An appendix at the end of the book, "Author Index," is arranged by the stroke order of the author's surname. After each author's name, the serial numbers of all their works are listed for easy reference.
15. Authors who use pen names, aliases, or abbreviations, as well as foreign authors with inconsistent translated names, are listed in this book according to the names they used in their publications. Cross-references are provided in the "Author Index." For example: Jia Jingyan (see Boyan), Boyan (i.e., Jia Jingyan); Deng Guangming (see Guangyin Ming, Zongmu), Guangyin Ming (i.e., Deng Guangming), Zongmu (i.e., Deng Guangming); Fu Haibo (see Fuhbo), Fuhbo (i.e., Fu Haibo).
