Informatization driving industrialization is a national policy. The equipment manufacturing industry is the foundation of industrialization. China's equipment manufacturing industry has undergone more than 20 years of informatization, but due to lack of system integration, its comprehensive effects have not been fully realized. Therefore, system integration has become the key to informatization driving industrialization. PDM technology is an effective method to address this key issue. To understand, master, and apply this technology, one must first understand the management of traditional enterprise product drawings, process documents, and technical materials, the role of these documents in the manufacturing process, the data relationships between them, and the status of product drawings, process documents, and technical materials in enterprise manufacturing resource planning (MRP—(Ref 2)) and enterprise digitalization. It also explains how to manage digitized product drawings, process documents, and technical materials and introduces how to use digital information to solve the challenges of system integration and data sharing in enterprise informatization, including the integration of CAD/CAPP and the integration of CAD/CAPP with ERP.
