Features: This specification was revised in accordance with the requirements of the (98) Jianbiao Jishu Zi No. 15 issued by the Standard and Quota Department of the Ministry of Construction in March 1998, "Letter on Agreeing to Comprehensively Revise the National Standard 'Design Specification for Industrial Circulating Water Cooling'." The revision was undertaken by the State Power Corporation, specifically by the Northeast China Electric Power Design Institute in collaboration with relevant units, to comprehensively revise the National Standard "Design Specification for Industrial Circulating Water Cooling" (GBJ102—87), which was approved and implemented in March 1987 by the State Planning Commission under the document "Jibi [1987] 384." During the revision process, the specification revision team conducted extensive research, carefully summarized the practical experience of various industrial sectors in China in the design, construction, and operation of industrial circulating water cooling facilities over recent years, and the feedback from units during the implementation of the 1987 version of the specification; absorbed the latest scientific and technological achievements in industrial circulating water cooling at home and abroad in recent years; referred to the latest versions of similar specifications abroad; and widely solicited opinions from relevant domestic units and experts. After repeated revisions and discussions, the specification was finally reviewed and finalized by the State Power Corporation in conjunction with relevant departments. The original specification consisted of four chapters with 120 articles. After revision, it remains four chapters: General Provisions, Cooling Towers, Spray Pools, and Surface Water Cooling. The number of articles increased to 203, with the addition of 2 appendices. Based on the original design content of industrial circulating water cooling facilities, the revised specification has added common calculation formulas for heat transfer and air dynamics calculations of cooling towers, as well as the surface evaporation coefficient and comprehensive surface heat dissipation coefficient in surface water cooling calculations. It has also included content on the structural design of cooling towers and spray pools, as well as the process design for using bay water for cooling cycles. Additionally, some data in the original articles have been revised based on recent research and practical achievements, such as the wind loss water rate of cooling towers, the ratio of the inlet area to the splash area, and the height of the draft shaft of mechanical ventilation cooling towers. While revising the articles, the explanations for the added and revised articles have been correspondingly updated. Some articles that were not revised have had their explanations modified and supplemented based on recent research and practical achievements. Due to the relatively concise and straightforward provisions in Section 2.4 "Open Circuit Cooling Towers" and Chapter 3 "Spray Pools," these chapters and sections do not have explanations. The revised specification is more comprehensive in content, with articles that offer good operability. The provisions are technically advanced, economically reasonable, conducive to safe production, and facilitate construction, operation, and maintenance management. It can serve as a better guide for the design of industrial circulating water cooling facilities in China.
